The preservation of the civil jury trial, “Justice by the People,” is the primary purpose of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). We have as members attorneys who display skill, civility and integrity, help younger attorneys achieve a higher level of trial advocacy and educate the public about the vital importance of the Seventh Amendment.
ABOTA is an invitation-only organization. Prospective members must have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers, have tried at least 10 civil jury trials to conclusion and possess additional litigation experience, and exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity and professionalism.
The El Paso ABOTA Scholarship benefits deserving and aspiring University of Texas at El Paso students who have successfully completed the Law School Preparatory Institute curriculum and are expecting to attend law school upon their graduation.
The funds received from El PASO ABOTA members help fund the endowment which has been established in the name of the organization with additional funds awarded to students on an annual basis.
